FUNDING RAISING USING KICK STARTER: DOES IT WORK?
Written by Lori Shecter

Kickstarter

There are many dance studios who help others in need. A recent example of this is THE KICK DANCE STUDIO's in Monmouth NJ raising funds for the Monmouth Beach Elementary School that was badly damaged by hurricane Sandy. They raised $10,000 to help!  Hats off to you!

But what about when the situation is reversed and a struggling studio needs help? We combed the web to find the top ways that Dance studios can raise funds. One dancer we caught up with used a Crowd Funding website called KickStarter with great success.  Bree Hafens has already raised $3800 of a $25,000 goal for her dance project, POSITIVE SPACE.  To read more about her story CLICK HERE:

Just what is Crowd Funding?

Remember good old fashioned bake sales?  Where you gave away baked goods for $1?  Well this is bake sales gone online.  It's realy about getting funding from a large group of people on the internet.  It's not so easy, but largely started for the arts, about the arts, crowd sourcing is a way to help studio funding.  Like anything, takes time, effort, energy and a little help from your friends.  In each crowd sourcing site, you need to start your project and the amount of funds you need to raise.  These do take a little more effort and a little more technical know how than the first three ideas, but the $ thousands you can raise may well be worth the trouble.  Take a look at the most popular crowd sourcing sites, including the brand new one from Donald Trump!

Fund Anything (The Donald's),Kick StarterGo Fund Me and Indigogo.  Indigogo is more arts focused than the first two.

Crowd funding can take a lot of effort so we combed the web for some more ideas that were less time consuming, but also well worth the effort:

1: EUROTARD FUND RAISING (LEVEL OF EFFORT: LOW)

Eurotard dancewear manufacturer has a super simple way of creating more revenue and funds for your school.  If you don't already know about it, simply CLICK HERE.  For every online purchase, Eurotard gives 5% back to your school!  Pretty awesome.  Helping your studio AND your students!

2.  DISCOUNT DANCE: (LEVEL OF EFFORT: LOW)

Discount dance has a similar online effort, where schools and teachers can set up online stores on their website and receive points and dollars back when students buy from their website.  A ROCKING online dance studio clothing store.

3. SCHOOL EMPOWER: (LEVEL OF EFFORT: MEDIUM)

School Empower school management system will give 5% back for any school that uses us for a minimum of 6 months! CLICK HERE to find out more!  Not quite as easy as setting up an online store like our first two suggestions, but way more easy than say, having a car wash!

As always, let us know if you have any questions or comments!
