INTEGRATING SOCIAL MEDIA WIDGETS ON YOUR WEBSITE HOME PAGE
Written by Lori Shecter

Social PluginDance studios are using social media to communicate to their students, parents and teachers...communicate special events, communicate closings and communicate reminders.  But what if your parents are not on social media and  don't want to go to social media to receive messaging from you?  There is a solution:  all social media websites have "plugins" or API's that integrate with your website, so you can show feeds and posts right on your homepage.

The Solution

Dance Studios Web Design (or your web master) can integrate the widget pictured here that will integrate, one, two or MANY social media applications including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube.    We can help you do this for a new website or your existing website. Communicate through whatever social media you want directly on your website homepage.  Not ready for EVERY social media integration?  Below are the most popular integrations

#1:  Facebook: The Like Box-Most Popular

The like box is an integration that allows users to LIKE YOUR PAGE and follow comments directly through your website.  Here is a LIVE EXAMPLE of a website that Dance Studios Webdesign is building with an integrated like box:

 LIKEBOX

#2: Facebook- Like Button

The Like button lets users share pages from your site back to their Facebook profile with one click. When the user clicks the Like button on your site, a story appears in the user’s friends’ news feed with a link back to your website. The Facebook Like button is a great way to direct traffic to specific items on your site that otherwise would not have gotten the fanfare. This is really good if you have a blog and post updates about your studio, your classes and your competitions.

#3:  Facebook- Send Button

The Send button allows your users to easily send your content to their friends. It’s different from the Like button in that the content sent between friends is communicated via a Facebook message and not, by default, through a public news feed posting as a “Liked” item would be.

#4: Facebook -  Login Button

The Login button lets you show profile pictures of the user’s friends who have already signed up for your site in addition to a login button. This is only useful if you’re also going to add in a Registration function (below), which allows you to create a community of website users who are logged into your site (with their Facebook credentials).

#5: Bookmark and Share

SharebuttonsHaving this bookmark and share "widget" on your website will allow your student's and families to SHARE your content all over the social media world.  This will help with search engine optimization:  i.e. having Google and the other search engines FIND YOU!

#6: Twitter Timelines

Just like timelines on twitter.com, embeddable timelines are interactive and enable your visitors to reply, Retweet, and favorite Tweets directly from your pages.

#7: Twitter Tweets

Embedded Tweets make it possible for you take any Tweet and embed it directly in to the content of your article or website. Tweets display with expanded media like photos, videos, and article summaries, and also include real-time retweet and favorite counts. When embedded, Tweets are interactive and enable your readers to follow the Tweet author, and reply, retweet, favorite all directly from the page.

#8: Tweet Button

The Tweet Button is a small widget which allows users to easily share your website with their followers. This page is for developers and users who wish to build their own Tweet Buttons.

#9: Follow Button

The Follow Button is a small widget which allows users to easily follow a Twitter account from any webpage.
